Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Better with chocolate!

I love chocolate and I love strawberries, so the combo is heaven.  What I don’t love is the store bought chocolate dipped/covered strawberries that contain bad fats and plenty of added sugar.  So, I’d rather make my own with organic strawberries and organic, dark (70% or higher) chocolate.  The darker the chocolate, the better it is for you, but, of course, the less sweet it is.  However, it’s the job of the strawberries to make this treat sweet.

For the chocolate, I recommend the following:  Equal Exchange Organic Bittersweet Chocolate Chips or Pascha Organic Bittersweet Chocolate Chips or Dagoba Chocodrops.

INGREDIENTS:

1 C. Bittersweet Chocolate (darkest chocolate you can find)

1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil

Strawberries

Toppings (shredded coconut, chopped nuts, chopped seeds)

DIRECTIONS:

Melt chocolate in oil until smooth – allow to cool.

  1. Line baking sheet with wax paper.
  2. Dip strawberries in chocolate and toppings.
  3. Place strawberries on sheet and freeze three hours.
  4. Eat as needed!  *The coconut oil will make these get melty easily, so you’ll want to eat them soon after taking out of freezer.
