Exercise – Lat Pulldowns

I try not to post many exercises that use equipment you might not have at home, since many of us don’t have gym memberships.  However, many of us do go to gyms, and when we do, we should be taking advantage of some of the best exercises we can do in a gym instead of wasting time slugging away on cardio machines…

One of the best exercises that both men and women should be doing (especially if you aren’t capable yet of doing pull-ups) is the lat pulldown.  This is primarily for the lats (back muscles), but will also hit your shoulders, biceps, and other back muscles and you may feel it in your core.  Many people have underdeveloped back muscles, but a lat pulldown will help immensely with back strength and will help with posture.  A lat pulldown simulates the movement for a pull-up, but allows you to use less than your bodyweight.  As you progress with lat pulldowns this will help you get closer to being able to do a pull-up.
