Homemade Hair Lightener

Often times when summer rolls around, I think about lightening my hair, but I have never used chemicals on my hair, so I always think about ways to use the sun and natural ingredients.  I recently came across this recipe for lightening hair that I thought I’d share.  Please keep in mind that this is natural and will most likely only give you subtle highlights, but, in my case, I’m good with natural highlights rather than putting chemicals on my head.  file2061288120865

HOMEMADE HAIR LIGHTENER:

1 C. Water

1 C. Apple Cider Vinegar

1/2 C. Dried Calendula or Dried Chamomile  *Blondes tend to have more success with Chamomile

20 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

20 Drops Cinnamon Essential Oil

Combine the water and vinegar in a pot with calendula or chamomile and bring to a boil.  Allow to cool and pour in a spritzer bottle.  Add the essential oils to the bottle and shake well.  Spray onto hair until damp or wet.  Comb through hair.  Allow hair to dry in the sun.  Shake bottle before each use.
